Start Spinnin'- Heelside FS 360 w/Ronnie Romero |
| Forget goin' upside down for a minute... No rider is complete until he/she is spinnin'. The heelside 360 is the perfect spin to learn first. All spins originate from a 3. | |
| 1. To do a basic heelside FS 3 you do not need a big hard cut... start from about 10 feet outside the wake with a moderate to progressive cut. Keep your knees bent so you can stand tall off the top of the wake for maximum pop. Remember... do NOT start your spin until you have completely left the wake. If you try to throw the spin right off the wake (like you do on a snowboard) you will be bucked off axis (and not in the good way). | |
| 2.
After you are clearly airborne off the wake, it is now that you start to
think about the spin. Pull the handle to your back hip with BOTH hands
(this will help your spin when you are learning). You should be spinning
frontside (chest opens up to the boat). While you are pulling
the handle to your rear hip try to look at your front shoulder blade. I am
exaggerating a bit here, but you should get the idea. I mean, put your
chin to your lead shoulder and look your spin around. Remember: You do
NOT need to throw the spin on a 3... if you did the above properly- that
is all you will need. |
|
| 3.
As your spin is being initiated, rotate your wrist and put the handle in
the small of your back. Reach around to the small of your back with your
lead hand. DO NOT LET GO OF THE HANDLE UNTIL YOU FEEL IT IN YOUR OTHER
HAND. |
|
| 4. Once you have
passed the handle continue looking over your lead shoulder until you spot
your landing. Land on your heelside edge and ride away. Congrats...
you're gettin' dizzy. Now throw a slob grab in there for style.... take
'er off the DU, or see how long you can wait before you start the spin...
stalled out 3's are SICK!!! Ride Safe. Ronnie |
